With the Holidays and now the Biennial Convention past us, we are looking forward to the upcoming by-election and the tough fight ahead.

Sunday (today)– is the TDPLA New Year’s Levee and will be a great opportunity to get out and see one another, talk shop and show some support for Toronto-Danforth Liberals.

Volunteer Opportunities

Last week we held our first Liberalist training session. It was a resounding success!! We had 25 people out to learn how to make phone calls for our upcoming membership drive. We’re looking for the next 25 to train!!

We’ve started weekly membership phone drive parties (at the party offices at 10 St. Mary’s), and would love your participation. It’s easy to do, really, and once trained, you can do it from the comfort of your own home.

Community News

The Frankland Community Pool Working Group
Toronto- Danforth Riding members, including Julie Dabrusin – our Director of Membership, were active in the drive to save the Frankland Pool. We’re happy to say that they were successful, and our local pool lives to swim another day.

The Frankland Community Pool Working group invites the community to a pool party on Friday, January 27 from 6-8 at the Frankland Community Centre.

Join them for a fun swim and refreshments!

Community Consultations
There are several community consultation activities happening in the near future, on daycare, the conversion of the Albany Clinic into a LCBO, and others. Check out the www.tdfla.ca/events page for more information, and remember to send us events when you hear about them.

In sad news, a member of the Liberal family, Hamilton Centre director Irene Stayshyn’s niece, Katherine “Bunny” Newman, was murdered a week ago in her Oakville home. The family has established a trust fund for Bunny’s three young boys – now orphaned. The family has been touched by the many requests to help the boys and so has set up an education and care fund for Newman’s children.
